Moody pair to miss Cups

Last year’s AAMI Vase winner Hanks and star New Zealand filly Zarzuela will miss the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups.

Peter Moody revealed to Sport 927 that Hanks will have a light spring, with a tougher autumn campaign in mind.

“He’s only returned to pre-training in the past week, so he won’t be ready for the Cups,” Moody told Shane Anderson on Racing Ahead.

Moody is already looking forward to the spring of 2011 with Hanks.

Meanwhile, star Kiwi filly Zarzuela is also set to miss the Cups after suffering an injury.

Zarzuela, who had joined Moody after her New Zealand trainer Mark Walker took up a training post in Singapore, will also be back in time for the autumn.

Moody still has a very strong team, with the likes of Typhoon Tracy, Black Caviar, Set For Fame, Avenue, Headway, Doubtful Jack, Willow Creek, Triumphant Choice, Anacheeva, Ocean Dream, Salinas, Speedy Natalie and Reward for Effort all set to play a role throughout the spring.
